Usenet As A File-Sharing Platform

What is Usenet?

Usenet is a disconnected network on the Internet. It was created even before the World Wide Web. The Usenet consists of so-called newsgroups, simple forums on any topic, in which basically anyone can participate. To enter the Usenet you need a newsreader. In addition to this program, you need access, which is usually provided for a fee by providers. The Usenet represents an important collection of knowledge that goes back to the early 1980s. The most important part nowadays is the parallel structure "Binary Usenet" which can also store binary files, i.e. all kinds of digital files. Exactly this feature has become the most important part.

In the meantime, Usenet has become a file-sharing platform for movies and TV series, and even movies can often be viewed there shortly after their release. Of course, this file sharing is not legal, but it offers a significant advantage: You access a Usenet server via SSL encryption. This server belongs to the provider from whom you have rented access. This is not illegal at first. However, an outside observer cannot see what is being downloaded, i.e. whether it is something legal or something illegal such as a movie download. So far, there is no known case where a pure downloader has been prosecuted for using Usenet.

Should you upgrade to a premium account?

The free account you use with XS Usenet is free for life. However, it can be a challenge to stay within the 25 GB data cap. Also, the download speed of 2 Mbps can take a long time to download files.

By upgrading to the Premium account, you can improve your downloading experience with Usenet. In this package, there are no download speed limitations when you use this service. Besides, the data cap is removed, so you won't have to worry about the file size. The retention period of the premium and free accounts is the same at 1100 days. It increases the number of active connections to 50, while you have the possibility to send postings. Besides, it provides access to Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a protocol for encrypting the connection between the server and the client software. Thus, your data will be safe and secure at all times.
